Developed in the late 1960s, 8-inch floppy disks gained commercial availability in 1971 as part of IBM products. Memorex and other firms began selling floppy disks and drives in 1972. Subsequent iterations were produced and improved upon by IBM, Memorex, Shugart Associates, and Burroughs Corp. The term “floppy disk” was seen in print by 1970, and IBM announced its first media as the Type 1 Diskette in 1973. Despite this, the industry continued referring to the media as "floppy disk" or "floppy".

This mug represents the 3 types of the most successful floppy disks. This beautiful ceramic mug is Perfect for anyone passionate about the history of the computing world. An ideal companion for any hot beverage, you'll enjoy your morning coffee, hot chocolate, and more with this product.
